I've been really interested in wearables since I saw the first press shots of the Moto 360. When wearables first appeared (the Pebble, Galaxy Gear) they were the equivalent of a calculator watch - quite useful for adding things together, but awful at telling the time and even worse for your sex life. They were blocky, had incredibly poor battery life and not something you'd even consider wearing on a night out. The Moto 360 made me take notice - a well-designed and, importantly, watch-like appearance gives it the credibility that it deserves. So, when I got the chance to try one for a weekend, I couldn't pass it up.
On my way to see some friends in Sheffield, tweeting away on the train, Chris Murray offered me a ticket for Interesting North as a way out of going shopping with the missus and her friends.
Just a quick note about a new Twitter client - Destroy Twitter, that has quickly replaced Twhirl as my client of choice. It's lightweight, very simple and very fast whilst being incredibly slick at the same time. Now, all they have to do is get rid of the rubbish Windows chrome at the top and they're on to a winner!
I've been using the brilliant Last.fm service for nearly two years now, during which time it's introduced me to loads of new artists. The best thing about it is its iPod scrobbling, so it keeps track of what I listen to and I can do all sorts of stats on it. As it is that time of year, here's my Last.fm music of the year!
